My Top 5 Artists (Week Ending 2010-9-5)

So, you know how everyone thinks that the Top is his totem, but in the beginning he mentions that it’s actually Mal’s? Well, you see, if it’s not his totem, then it’s not going to properly work for him. Cobb’s totem is his wedding ring. Whenever he’s dreaming, he has a wedding ring on because, as he says, in his dreams, they’re still together. In reality, he’s not wearing a ring. During the last scene of the movie? He’s not wearing a ring. BAM, REALITY.

So this is what you can do with leftover model runners…
Dubbed the RG (Recycle Grade) RX-78-2 Gundam, the piece was constructed over 95 days and required over 250 man hours to complete. It stands at 3 meters tall and is made solely from runners and part trees from various Gundam model kits. The pose recreates the classic shooting scene of the end of Mobile Suit Gundam, albeit with its head attached this time.I can’t imagine putting this sort of project together, let alone being able to pull it off nearly as well.
The Recycle Grade Gundam will be part of Dengeki Hobby’s booth at Chara Hobby this weekend as part of Gunpla’s 30th Anniversary. Stay tuned for more info as the show opens for its 2010 edition. For some shots of the construction process, check out the Gundam Art blog.
